My name is Ebony Griffin.
I’m a third-year journalism student here at Carleton University in Ottawa, our nation’s capital.
Originally, I’m from a small town in the foothills of Alberta called Water Valley.
Before coming to Ottawa, I spent two years on the west coast, close to Victoria. There I attended an international I.B. school, called Lester B. Pearson College of the Pacific. At this school, I learned how to do pottery, scuba dive, and fell in love with arbutus trees, which are unique to that region.
I also met many of my closest friends who are now all over the globe.
I love to write, and just recently came across some of my old stories from when I was still in grade school. I’m shocked by how imaginative I was. It made me realize why I went into journalism in the first place – because I like to tell stories that people like to read. Those stories gave me inspiration to continue writing.
I enjoy Ottawa as a city. I’ve never lived in one, but so far, it’s alright.
As I explore the Sandy Hill neighbourhood, I realize that each area of the city has something special to offer. And if you just take the time to look, then wherever you are, you’re bound to come across people and places that enrich your experience.
